Welcome to the 7th SFWP Literary Awards Program.

Welcome to the 7th SFWP Literary Awards Program, offering $3750 in cash awards and the opportunity to be considered for representation by the Irene Goodman Agency. The 2009 Program will run from January 1st, 2009 through July 15th, 2009. The grand prize is $1,750, with two runner-up prizes of $1,000 each. Winners will be featured on our online literary journal.

We've reduced the reading fees this year to $25 ($20 if you are a current student), and you can find out how to enter on the guidelines page, find some of the most common questions answered on the FAQ page, and get an entry form right here.

The 2009 judge will be our very own Pagan Kennedy. Check out Pagan's qualifications right here, and don't miss out on our latest publication, The Dangerous Joy of Dr. Sex and Other True Stories SFWP's third release and Pagan's 10th book.

SFWP’s program began in 2000 and has been judged by National Book Critics Circle Award-winner Jayne Anne Phillips, two-time NEA fellow and Hemingway Award finalist Richard Currey, Granta "best novelist under 40" and Guggenheim fellow Chris Offutt, popular essayist Ayun Halliday, and Pulitzer-prizewinning Robert Olen Butler.
